Lovebird

[written on valentines day, this year]

i,
the crow-
ing laugh,

exhale

your vocal
lips apart
and grow
in branching
beauty.
bronchi
unwind joy-
fully capable
of finding me
out.

inhale.

how
would i
weave a
nest out
of words?
i’d say that all my twigs and leaves
twist off their rookeries when you breathe.
(though
birds know
more than i
the definition of

love:
intimacy,
infinity)
my dove,
warm your wings
in the sun with me.
